Pryme Tyme Entertainment at 2016 Hawks Landing Bridal Show

Pryme Tyme Entertainment at 2016 Hawks Landing Bridal Show

For the 4th year in a row, Pryme Tyme Entertainment has been invited to Hawks Landing for their bridal show. If you’re not familiar with Hawks Landing, you should really give it a look. Hawks Landing is a country club located in Southington, CT. The Bella Vista banquet facility is their reception hall. Located just 3 minutes off of Queen Street in Southington, it’s in the perfect central CT location for weddings and other events with easy access off of I84.

But more than just convenience, Hawks Landing offers a cozy atmosphere for up to 250 guests. The hardwood ceiling, regal white walls and french doors are very quaint and charming. Their 25X45 dance floor is great for weddings as you can get a ton of guests out on the floor without it feeling too cramped but still very cozy. The seating is very well laid out so that guests can comfortably sit and move around the room with ease.  And let’s not forget about the food… Let’s just say, it’s deceptive at best. You wouldn’t expect this kind of flavor, variety, and quantity at a golf club but, your guests will LOVE the cuisine and noone will go home hungry.

Photographers LOVE the greens at Hawks for it’s rolling hills and beautifully landscaped greens and fountains and the sunsets are just gorgeous near the weeping willows down by the pond for pictures.

All in all, Hawks is one of our favorite venues to frequent and we have been on their preferred vendor list for 3 years. The staff is very warm and welcoming not only to guests but vendors as well and work as a well oiled machine to see to it that everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves. You are going to love Hawks. But don’t take my word for it. Come visit us THIS SUNDAY and see for yourself! Meet with events manager Jaime and all of the vendors there. While you’re there, stop by and try out our FUNTASTIC Photo Booth!

We’ll see you at the show!

What kind of Wedding DJ are you?

“What kind of Wedding DJ are you? What style DJ are you?”

Besides, “How much?” or “what are your wedding dj prices, these are the two most common questions I hear at wedding appointments. I thought about it one day and tried to find a solid answer to this question and really came up short. It doesn’t really seem like that hard of a question.

The image and sound of a DJ is a bit of a stereotype. Back in the 80’s it may have been the mullet wearing rocker playing ‘Old Time Rock N Roll’ or the guy dressed in Adidas, gold chains and a Kangol cap playing Run DMC. Today we’ve got the trashy hipster EDM guys and then there’s Pauly D from the Jersey Shore.
In terms of Wedding DJs, the mid 40’s salt and pepper guy with swaggar like Dos Equis, a bright smile and golden microphone is what you might think of.

I am happy to announce that I am none of those things. I don’t fit into a stereotype. But that still begs the question, what kind of DJ am I? So here goes.

I wear many hats as a business owner, an audio and lighting engineer, an entertainer, and as a wedding planner.

From a business perspective, I’m all about service and taking care of the customer. Like Harold Webster Smith (founder of Webster Bank) had said, “If you take care of the customer, everything else takes care of itself.”

As an audio & lighting engineer, my job is to make things look and sound their best without being obtrusive to the surroundings we are working in. Noone enjoys a headache but people do appreciate good sound and tasteful lighting at an event. You won’t hear any feedback or eardrum shattering music at a Pryme Tyme event. But you will be able to talk to your fellow guests comfortably while still feeling the music in your chest when you want to.

As an entertainer, it’s simple. I am whatever you want me to be. If your event is more conservative, I can blend very easy into the background. If your event is  high energy and unbridled showmanship is what you’re after, that can also be accommodated. If I were to describe my style in one word it would be, “versatile”.

From the wedding planner point of view, it’s much like the entertainer. Versatility is very important. There are so many venues who do things a little different from the next and you have to adapt to any changes to make sure that everything goes according to the couple’s wishes.

I hope this answers this common question. I look forward to being the entertainer that YOU want me to be.

What DJ style are you?

Wedding Disc Jockeys in CT – Try before you buy…

It’s time to find your DJ for your wedding. So you do a Google search for Wedding Disc Jockeys in CT and come across hundreds of listings for Disc Jockeys in CT. Where do you begin? At the top of course.

As you browse around, you read how every Wedding DJ in CT will make your day everything you’ve always wanted, how lighting will enhance your experience, and just how awesome the DJ’s mixing skills are. What you’re reading is on the first page of the Wedding DJ website handbook.

Now that you’ve seen the pictures of wedding lighting, DJ setups,  DJs with the golden microphone and a Cheshire Cat grin , you ask yourself, where do we go from here? What’s the difference? How do you know which one to choose? You don’t have much time with work, school, and the daily routine and your year of planning your wedding will fly by faster than you think. But don’t worry, there’s hope.

Make sure you pop onto wedding pages like WeddingWire, TheKnot, Brides.com, and others and take a look there. Also, if you have chosen your venue, ask them for references. Connecticut Wedding Venues like The Aqua Turf, Grand Oak Villa, and Hawks Landing Country Club will more than likely have a book with preferred vendors to help you find the perfect wedding vendors for your wedding day.

Ask your family and friends for references as well. If they’ve been to a wedding in the last 5 years, chances are, they have run into some of the Wedding Disc Jockeys in CT you’re looking at on Google. With all of these resources, you should be able to find a good jumping off point. Read reviews from past clients that will tell you their experiences with the Wedding DJs you’re looking at. Watch their Wedding videos on YouTube and Vimeo to give you an idea of what they can do for your Wedding Reception.

Once you’ve researched your Wedding Entertainment options, contact your choices and set up appointments with them. From that point, you can ask questions about their experience, their technique, their business, and everything you need to know to make an informed decision when choosing your Wedding Disc Jockey.

How to get the most out of visiting a bridal show

How to get the most out of visiting a bridal show

Alrighty ladies, the time has come to start looking for vendors. With CT’s bridal show season officially underway in January, there’s a few things to know before you head out in search of the perfect wedding team.

While walking down the aisles, you’ll see wedding professionals of all types. Be sure to stop at as many as possible. Every wedding vendor has something unique to offer that could potentially make your special day amazing.

If you see a vendor you are interested in, be sure to give them your contact information so that they can set up an appointment with you. The vendors get a list of brides and grooms attending but, it helps us as vendors to know who is interested in us so we don’t bother you if you already have the services you need or are interested in another vendor.

Use things like dot stickers on promotional materials that you get so that you remember which vendors you are interested in. You’ll be more than likely carrying around a bag FULL of cards, brochures, and other promotional material. This will help you sort through the pile quickly and find your wedding team.

While speaking with the vendors at the show, ask for referrals to other vendors who they recommend. This could help you save time and give you some great references when choosing your wedding team.

As you’re waiting to speak to a vendor (chances are there will be a line), be sure to pop onto their website on your smartphone or tablet. This way, you can learn a little bit more about the company and have time to ask questions more specific to your special day.

After you’ve met with all of the vendors, go to a wedding site like WeddingWire or TheKnot and read their reviews. This will give you an even more in-depth look at what your wedding vendor can do for you.

Carry a bottle of water with you. You will be doing a lot of talking & walking. Stay hydrated.

Have a light meal before you come. Don’t miss out on meeting the right vendors on the account of going hungry. Visiting a bridal show can be exhausting. Carry a snack with you like protein bars to keep your energy up.

Follow up with your favorite vendors immediately! The good ones get booked quickly. Keep in mind, the majority of weddings in CT happen in May, June, September, October, and November.

Visit multiple shows. You might meet the right vendor for you after the 2nd or 3rd show. Smaller to medium sized shows typically offer the best experience because you have more time to chat with the vendors.

Hawks Landing Bridal Show

2 Years ago we did our first wedding at Hawks Landing Country Club. Now when you think country club, the first thing that comes to mind is golf. But at this central Connecticut gem, there’s so much more. Hawks gives you all of the amenities that you would expect from a larger wedding facility and offers a cozy and classy atmosphere.

Jamie Albert and the staff at Hawks Landing have raised the bar when it comes to country club weddings. Their spacious and inviting Bella Vista room comfortably seats up to 200 guests and just next door, the Fairway Room is great for up to 50 guests or can be used as a private bridal suite.

From a catering perspective, their food is hearty and full of flavor. Jamie’s down to earth personality and service first crew will ensure that all of your guests are treated like royalty.

Wedding Introductions

Wedding Introductions

Wedding Introductions

One of the most important jobs we have at weddings is introducing loved ones of the bride and groom. This may seem trivial to some but, it is one of the highlights at many wedding receptions. It also sets the tone for how the rest of the reception will be carried out.

But what if you’re someone who doesn’t like to be the center of attention?  Or maybe it’s the exact opposite and you like the idea of all eyes on you. It’s ok. Your wedding is all about you. There are many different styles of wedding introductions. You can find most of them on Youtube from DJs across the country. Every DJ’s style is a little bit different and brings something special to the table depending on the tastes and preference of the bride and groom.

Here are a couple of examples…

The Conservative: A conservative intro would have a classic feel. Not over the top energy but more or less, a simple announcement of the bridal party with very little embellishment.

The Average Joe: A little more upbeat than the conservative but not a showstopper. Your guests will undoubtedly know you’re there but, it’s a more laid back approach to introductions.

The Grand Entrance: This is reserved for doctors, lawyers, and elected officials who’s title is very important to them. You’ll hear more of a presidential announcer quality to the voice and lots of Dr, Senator, and Esquire mixed in.

Let’s get ready to rumble!: Use your imagination. This is probably the favorite among radio DJs gone mobile. They love to be the center of attention and really put on a show for your guests.

The Comedian/Chris Berman Special: This is reserved for bridal parties and guests who have both a good sense of humor and like to take part in Cosplay to emulate their extroverted personality or favorite fantasy character. You might hear the best man introduced as Dan ‘THE MAN’ Johnson and the maid of honor, Princess Layla Jones.

THE ROCKSTAR: When you are looking for the most energetic introduction to make you feel like a rockstar, this is the one you want. You might hear something like, “You wanted the best, you got the best. The hottest couple in CT. BOB & JANET!!!!!!!!!!!!”

No matter what your preferences are, there is a DJ and an intro for every personality. A seasoned pro will be able to switch from one to the other seamlessly depending on your taste.

Last week, we had the pleasure of entertaining Lauren & Chris and 200 of their closest friends and family at the Lake of Isles @ Foxwoods Resort and Casino. Here is an example of one of the many introduction styles we offer.
