Hi! I’m an affordable DJ!
The buzzword these days for brides looking for entertainment is affordable or reasonable. What do those 2 words mean to you? What is affordable or reasonable to you? Well, it’s all a matter of priority.
When you’re searching vigorously through the google results on your phone looking for wedding djs in ct, you’ll see a plethora of services available to you. It’s kind of like going down the bread aisle at Stop & Shop. You’ve got white bread, wheat bread, rye, italian, potato bread, and artisan bread. There’s 12 grain, 16 grain, and the ever so popular gluten free. On top of those TYPES of bread, you can choose from Pepperidge Farm, WonderBread, Martins, Freihofers, Miletes and of course, the store brand. Then there’s the end cap where the specialty breads are for special occasions. But what does a DJ have to do with bread?
Much like bread, there are so many different varieties of DJ out there. You’ve got club guys, karaoke DJs, wedding djs, house party djs, bedroom djs, producers, hobbyists, & turntablists. Each one of these DJs specializes in something. The club dj might be proficient in trap & EDM but might not have the catalog to do a family function. The private party DJ might have seven different versions of the chicken dance that probably will never see the light of day in a club. But the wedding DJ is the most versatile of all.
So whys is there such a difference in price for DJs?
Each type of DJ has it’s own market that they cater to. But we’ll focus on the wedding DJ.
While most club DJs have the ability to walk into a club with their laptop and perform a set, wedding DJs have to bring the club with them. Everything from speakers, microphones, lighting down to the last cable powering up all this equipment must be present when hosting a wedding. In addition to the equipment, they must have a vehicle large enough to transport all of their gear to the wedding. Larger vehicles equal increased cost for fuel, insurance, and maintenance. These costs are directly translated to the cost of a wedding dj. The better the quality, the more expensive the pricetag.
But what does it matter what a DJ spends on their gear? I know couples don’t really care either way how much the gear costs but, when it comes to the end result and guaranteeing that their event will happen with little to no margin of error, it matters.
And with all of that gear, you can’t ignore experience. A great wedding DJ takes the time to learn everything from how to use their equipment and music programming to rehearsing bridal party names and planning out your timeline to make sure that every detail has been carefully planned for a successful event. More than just the performance time of 5-6 hours that you see at a wedding, your wedding dj has already spent between 25-40 hours making sure they’re ready to host your wedding.
Wedding DJs are largely responsible for the success of your reception.
There is a LOT that goes into your wedding prior to the wedding day. And if you read wedding dj reviews on Google, you’ll notice that the wedding djs with the best reviews are the ones that are consistently great at what they do and generally speaking, those DJs are in the above average price range.
The DJs that are on the lower end of the spectrum are usually found on sites like Thumbtack and Yelp. Sites like these cater to the lower end market. If you’ve already invested a large stake in the perfect day, you would be wise to find an affordable DJ according to the end result you are trying to create.
What is reasonable? What does an affordable DJ cost? When it comes to your special day, it is not unreasonable to expect a high level of service. And that level of service that you expect is affordable and attainable. In fact, 90% of couples have said that they wished they made their entertainment more of a priority following their wedding. It’s worth it.
